After a qualification round in which more than 100 students from Serbia, Slovenia and Bulgaria took part, in the final of the fourth boomerang competition known as Boom fest participated over 20 competitors. The boomerang competition, the only of its kind in the Balkan region was organized on 5 May in Nis, Serbia.

According to the rules, the competitors need to stand in a radius of three meters and need to throw the boomerang 56 times. The most points gets the competitor who will catch the boomerang closest to the center of the circle.

The organizers of this unique manifestation on the Balkans are students and professors from the technical school „15 May” from Nis. They say that did not expect that the competition will become an international event. When they first had organized a boomerang competition, it was meant to be for the students because they were making boomerangs in their school company.

This year, they have got support from the Embassy of Australia in Serbia, since Australia is a homeland of boomerang, where the Aborigines were using it as a weapon for hunting small animals.
